Scaffold milestones achieved at Clay Farm Cladding Remediation
Project Overview
Potter Raper is proud to be supporting Cambridge City Council on the Clay Farm Cladding Remediation project at the Clay Farm Centre, Trumpington, Cambridge.
This important project focuses on improving fire safety and long-term performance through the replacement of existing external cladding, associated timber elements, and balcony decking, supported by comprehensive fire design engineering.
Project Progress
A key milestone has recently been achieved, with the scaffold now complete on the North elevation of the building. The scaffold installation commenced in December and reached completion in January, enabling the next phase of remediation works to progress safely and efficiently.
Our team has closely monitored this stage to ensure works are carried out in line with design, safety, and quality standards.
Our Role – Clerk of Works (supporting our wider Employers Agent and Quantity Surveying roles)
We are providing Clerk of Works services, maintaining a strong on-site presence throughout the project. Our role is focused on protecting the client’s interests and ensuring that construction works meet the required specifications, regulations, and best practice standards.
What our Clerk of Works team brings to this project:
- On-site oversight of construction activities and Health & Safety compliance
- Detailed inspection and monitoring of materials and workmanship
- Verification that fire safety design requirements are met
- Regular reporting and collaboration with stakeholders to support informed decision-making

About the Clay Farm Centre
The Clay Farm Centre, constructed in 2017, is a prominent mixed-use building serving the local community. The five-storey development includes:
- Ground Floor: Library, café, and assembly hall
- First Floor: Meeting rooms, study areas, and office space
- Second Floor: Medical centre
- Third & Fourth Floors: Residential accommodation (20 apartments)
The remediation works are being carefully managed to ensure the continued safety and functionality of this diverse facility.
