Finsbury Circus Gardens Wins Gold at the WAN Awards 2026

We’re delighted to share that Finsbury Circus Gardens has been awarded Gold in the Public Realm category at the World Architecture News (WAN) Awards 2026 – an international recognition of excellence in landscape design, sustainability, and the creation of vibrant public spaces.

The judges praised the scheme as:
“A beautiful design that retains the original spirit of the square with a contemporary and nature‑based approach.”

A landmark project for the City of London
As the largest open public garden in the City of London, the refurbishment of Finsbury Circus Gardens has delivered a sensitive and sustainable transformation, including:

  • Upgraded seating, pathways and public realm improvements
  • New biodiverse planting to enhance ecology and seasonal interest
  • A new Parks office
  • A sustainable urban drainage strategy to reduce discharge into the public sewer system
  • Improved accessibility and circulation throughout the gardens

The park plays a vital role in supporting biodiversity, hosting 10 Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation within the City. It also contains three sites listed on the Historic England Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest, reflecting its cultural and historical significance.
