The UK’s Warmer Homes Plan represents a major step forward in decarbonising social housing, improving energy efficiency, and creating homes that are warmer, healthier and more affordable to run.
At Potter Raper, we understand that delivering these outcomes requires more than new technologies. It demands holistic thinking, rigorous quality assurance, and practical, coordinated delivery across every stage of a project. Sustainability is embedded in everything we do, and our approach aligns with our commitment to achieving net‑zero carbon.
Our Approach to Delivering Warmer, Greener Homes
To turn the ambitions of the Warmer Homes Plan into real, measurable outcomes, we apply three core principles that reflect both industry best practice and our own sustainability philosophy:
A holistic, fabric‑first approach grounded in the three pillars of sustainability
We balance environmental performance, cost‑effectiveness and social value, ensuring retrofit and new‑build solutions reduce energy demand, improve comfort and remain financially viable for clients and residents.
Data‑driven quality and compliance across every RIBA stage
Our multi‑discipline teams embed PAS 2035 principles, robust assessment, and rigorous quality assurance to ensure interventions are safe, effective and future‑proof. We support projects from early strategy through to post‑completion, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and best practice.
Practical, achievable pathways to low‑carbon and net‑zero outcomes
We develop realistic EPC and carbon‑reduction strategies that reflect real‑world constraints, budgets and long‑term performance goals, ensuring every project delivers measurable, lasting impact.
Our integrated services, including Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Health & Safety, Sustainability and Clerk of Works, ensure every intervention is coordinated, compliant and future‑proofed.
Alongside this holistic approach, the Warmer Homes Plan reinforces the importance of core retrofit principles such as fabric‑first design, strong data and quality assurance, and compliance with PAS 2035. Achieving EPC C by 2030 remains a key national target, but the pathway to get there must be realistic, evidence‑based and tailored to each project’s constraints. By integrating these requirements into early design, cost planning and delivery strategies, we help ensure that low‑carbon outcomes are both achievable and long‑lasting.
