Staff Promotion: Mike Newman – Head of Clerk of Works

We’re delighted to announce the promotion of Mike Newman to Head of Clerk of Works. Mike joined the Beckenham office in October 2017 and has progressed from Clerk of Works to Senior Clerk of Works, and now to Head of Clerk of Works.

Mike holds NVQ Level 6, is MICWCI accredited, and his MCIOB accreditation is currently pending. With over 9 years’ experience delivering Clerk of Works services for public sector organisations, he has developed a broad portfolio across residential, educational, leisure, fit-out, and commercial sectors.

Throughout his career, Mike has delivered a wide variety of projects across different scales and budgets, including stock condition surveys and refurbishment works to housing association properties, through to large-scale residential developments and complex new-build schemes.

He has also been involved in the construction of a new school delivered to full Passivhaus specification, strengthening specialist knowledge in sustainable construction methods and high-performance building standards.

Mike’s technical expertise includes defects inspection and analysis, modular construction, Health and Safety compliance, due diligence, Passivhaus principles, and joint venture projects.

In the new role, Mike will lead the Clerk of Works team, providing day-to-day site inspection services and ensuring workmanship, quality, and safety standards are met across all projects. His responsibilities include verifying compliance with drawings and specifications, checking adherence to Building Regulations, and reporting findings to senior management and clients.

Mike’s promotion recognises his technical excellence, strong attention to detail, and a sustained commitment to delivering high-quality construction outcomes across all sectors.
