Celebrating 25 years of service: Congratulations to David Spiller

We’re delighted to congratulate David Spiller, who is celebrating 25 years with Potter Raper!

David is an Executive Director and Quantity Surveyor, leading our Beckenham office and serving as the company’s Finance Director. Since joining Potter Raper in 2001, David has progressed through the business into senior leadership, bringing exceptional technical expertise and leadership to the business. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), and holds both a BSc (Hons) and an ILM Level 3 qualification, underpinned by more than 25 years of construction industry experience.

Sector expertise

David’s work centres on the residential and educational sectors, where he has delivered new-build and refurbishment schemes valued in excess of £100m. He is widely recognised for his specialist knowledge in residential and refurbishment, including complex works involving Leaseholder Billing. His experience spans procurement, gateway processes, long-term capital works frameworks and term contracts, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Local Authorities and Registered Landlords.

Leadership at Potter Raper

Alongside his project, David plays a key role in the strategic direction of the business. He leads the Quantity Surveying team in the Beckenham office and, as Financial Director, contributes to the financial leadership of Potter Raper.

Over his 25 years with Potter Raper, Dave has:

  • Led Quantity Surveying across a wide range of projects.
  • Provided expert advice on asset management planning, cost benefit analysis and contractor procurement for large-scale residential new-build projects.
  • Assisted local authority clients in developing long-term frameworks and term contracts for capital works programmes, including delivery under those frameworks.
  • Delivered Bank Monitoring and Fund Monitoring services alongside his core Quantity Surveying role.
  • Acted as Financial Director, contributing to the commercial and financial leadership of the business.
  • Supported staff development as an APC Assessor, actively contributing to RICS training within the firm.

David’s technical knowledge, leadership and long-standing commitment to Potter Raper make him one of the cornerstones of our business. We are grateful for everything he has contributed over the past 25 years.
