We’re delighted that Lexden Gardens Phase 1 has been shortlisted for ‘Development of the Year’ (51 – 100 units) at the Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards
Delivered for Essex Housing and designed by Chetwoods, Phase 1 of Lexden Gardens involves the design, construction, conversion and refurbishment of the former Essex County Hospital site on Lexden Road, Colchester, providing 63 high-quality new homes.
The development sensitively restores and repurposes the Grade II listed hospital building, combining heritage conservation with contemporary residential design to create a vibrant new community.
The project has already received significant industry recognition, including the Premier Guarantee Gold Monthly Award (September 2025) and the Second Quality Recognition Award from Premier Guarantee (March 2026). It was also shortlisted for the WAN Awards 2026 in the Future Projects – Residential category, highlighting the quality, innovation and collaborative effort behind the scheme.
We are proud to have supported the project as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Principal Designer, providing project leadership, commercial management and Health & Safety coordination throughout the delivery process under a Design and Build contract.
