We were delighted to attend the official opening of Melfield Gardens, an innovative intergenerational housing scheme in Lewisham, developed for Phoenix Community Housing.

This Passivhaus project delivers 30 affordable homes for residents aged 55+, alongside two intergenerational units housing 8 university students. Aiming to combat isolation and loneliness, students benefit from reduced rent in return for supporting their older neighbours through cultural and social activities.

The scheme builds on the success of the award-winning Hazelhurst Court, located on the same street, which we were also proud to be involved in.

We provided CDM – Principal Designer, Clerk of Works, Cost Consultancy, and Employer’s Agent services for this forward-thinking development.

It was an honour to celebrate the opening alongside Lord Best and representatives from Goldsmiths, University of London, the Greater London Authority, Housing LIN, Jerram Falkus Construction Limited, Lewisham Council, and of course, the new residents and students who now call Melfield Gardens home.

We’re proud to have played a key role in a project that sets a new benchmark for inclusive, sustainable and energy-efficient housing in London.
