Project Summary
The building had an internal area of approximately 188,000ft2 over 8-storeys which was mainly office space and ancillary accommodation spread over two sites identified in the original masterplan. In addition to the Council, it houses several public sector partners including a social housing provider and the Department for Work and Pensions.
New City Hall on the site of the Old Vaux Brewery.
The development of the former Vaux brewery site, which has been vacant since the closure of the brewery in 1999 and was finally demolished in 2003.
The site is located on the edge of the city centre and was part of a wider redevelopment project covering 5.80 hectares.
The project is the second office building to be developed and financed by Legal & General for its tenant, Sunderland City Council.
