We’re delighted that Lexden Gardens has been shortlisted for the WAN Awards 2026 in the ‘Future Projects – Residential’ Category

Delivering for Essex Housing Development and designed by Chetwoods Architects, Phase 1 transforms the Grade II listed former Essex County Hospital, and provides high-quality new build apartments on Lexden Road, Colchester, into a total of 63 high-quality dwellings.

The scheme carefully balances restoration of the historic facades with contemporary, sustainable new-build homes, while acknowledging the site’s Roman Road heritage.

We support the project as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and CDM – Principal Designer, overseeing construction delivery, cost planning and health & safety coordination.

This is the first of a three-phase development to be delivered over a five-year period, setting a benchmark for thoughtful, sustainable regeneration in Colchester.
