The Life and Mind building (LAMB), which will replace the Tinbergen building, will be the largest construction project ever undertaken by the Oxford University. It will provide research facilities for 800 students and 1,200 researchers.
The building will also aim to facilitate the University’s schools and public outreach through shared opportunities for art, exhibitions, lectures and conferences.
The building, scheduled to open in 2024, will transform the education by providing laboratories for students and researchers, as well as lecture theatres, specialised support labs and opportunities for public engagement. The new building will also support the University’s schools and public outreach programmes by providing opportunities for art, exhibitions, lectures and conferences and opening a ‘window on science’.
The work is part of a £4bn development partnership agreed between the University and Legal & General in June 2019, which will provide thousands of new homes for staff and students alongside academic facilities.
